Day 31 of Make Madness – DIY Dishtowels

87b5f4883e8951b044d53b69362413ebI’ve been on a Spring Cleaning kick at the moment and noticed, while decluttering my kitchen, that our dishtowels are SUPER old.  They work great, but they’ve seen better days.

Not wanting to spend any money on dishtowels (there are other fun things I’d prefer to spend my money on), I started to think how I could make myself a set of “new” dishtowels.

I thought about knitting or crocheting them out of cotton yarn, but I’ve got a gazillon yarn projects going at the moment.  Then I thought about sewing a set using the yards and yards of fabric in my garage.  Finally it hit me as I was decluttering my clothes closet.  I have several summer dresses that fit, but are a bit boxy and outdated and the cotton material is perfect for this project.

Using this tutorial, let the upcycling begin!!

Until this evening,

Grace

Great Idea for the towels, I use mine until they’re falling apart – like you say, so much better things to spend money on. I’ve arrived a bit late to March Madness, but have enjoyed what I’ve seen and will look through the posts I’ve missed when I have a minute. Great idea!

I look forward to your thoughts
