Card #19 –  Shaker Birthday Card

Card 19 Supply LayoutI started by assembling all my supplies.

I’ve been intrigued by shaker cards for a while now.  I thought this would be a good time to try one.

This card is a design that could be used for any occasion.

I used pink cardstock (4 1/4″ X 11″) for my base, white cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″) for the card front and patterned cardstock for the circle backgrounds and sentiment circle.

Place circle diesCirclesI began by die cutting the two circles on the card front.  Then I die cut the background patterned cardstock, the clear acetate and the two foam rings.  A shaker card needs about 1/8″ between the acetate and the patterned paper for the sequins.  The foam rings are glued between the acetate and the patterned paper.

Glueing clear acetate over circlesPour sequins onto clear acetateFirst I glued the acetate to the circles using Glossy Accents.  I let that dry for a few minutes and then glued the foam rings around the circles.  When that dried I sprinkled a few sequins and micro beads into the foam ring wells.

I glued the patterned paper over the foam rings to prevent the sequins from falling out.  I finished off the back of the card front by placing foam tape along the perimeter of the cardstock.

I finished the card by gluing a few pink sequins.

Here is the finished card.

One of the things I like a lot about your cards is they are very versatile – just change the message and it works for something else. You are very creative, but then I knew that 🙂
