Day 20 – Homemade Shea Body Butter – {DIY From Scratch}

Have you ever had an experience where you finally found the right shade of lipstick or the perfect outfit for an event or the yummiest shade of yarn or whatever… fill in the blank?

I’m constantly in search of the most perfect lotion.  You know, the one that soaks into your skin and actually moisturizes… and smells divine.  I thought I had found it with Gold Bond Ultimate Shea Butter Lotion and then I discovered Garnier Intensive 7 Days SOS-Repair Hand Cream – Shea Butter while in England.  Don’t get me wrong, these are still both excellent lotions, but they might be out of the running in my household.e35e89d5492f03ece029918feb08255b

The lotion I made today leaves my hands feeling so incredibly soft and moisturized.  I found this tutorial and followed the excellent instructions.  There are only 5 ingredients and the recipe makes about a pint of lotion.  I didn’t have a pint jar, so I used a quart jar.  The 5th ingredient is an essential oil of your choice and I chose, of course, Orange Blossom.

So excited to start using this lotion on all my dry bits ;-).  I’m also thinking this would be a great addition to my pampering basket idea.  How does a foot soak, energizing face spritz and luscious lotion sound?

Until tomorrow,

Grace

So that’s lotion?  I thought you were making frosting.  You better label that jar or else dad might try to taste it. 😉

  1. I love the smell of orange blossom! I have a body butter pot here, it’s a Baylis and Harding one and it’s such a beautiful smell! Sometimes I just apply a small bit to my neck so I smell nice!

    My favorite lotion comes from a seller on Etsy. It’s based on your ingredient list with a few extra oils added. It’s remarkable that the homemade all-natural lotions work so much better than almost all of the big-label chemical concoctions!

  3. I spend a lot of money on body butter. My husband will be very grateful:-)

I look forward to your thoughts
